Step Five:

As the plan of action is used it is modified and improved until there is a sense that it is working. There is the realization that the goal can be accomplished.

Personal Change

"I am able to do this!"

As your plan of action is put into place a series of adjustments will be needed. No plan is perfect and correction is needed. You may find that you cannot actually afford that addition to your home so a guest bedroom is converted into a nursery. You don’t like your first choice of doctors so you change. Initial feeding problems lead to a modification of plan. With enough experience and working through of problems, you discover that you can  be a competent parent. Things go smoothly. You actually like getting up for 3:00 a.m. feedings and you don’t mind changing diapers. Soon you realize that your life is resuming a normality. You advance to the next step on the cycle of change.

Work Change

"I am able to do this!"

With experience the organization finds that it has made the needed changes and that they are working. Unforeseen problems arise and adjustments are made. Over time the new procedures are proven successful. Some continuing minor adjustments are made.

Eventually there is a sense that we can do this. A sense of normality begins to return.

The crisis of change is passing.
